Technician
This 68 hr training program offered virtually at Excel Medical Training Center is delivered as a hybrid program that combines online lectures and optional hands-on practice. Students enrolled in the hybrid course will have the opportunity to participate in optional online lectures with an instructor in real-time. Classes will meet 3 days a week for a total of 4 weeks.
Cost: $400 (CPR/ BLS certification and Textbook included)

We are an APPROVED NHA testing location for EKG Technician students to complete the national certification exam onsite.
What does an EKG technician do?
Other duties include:
- Execute EKG services according to the hospital’s procedures.
- Maintain EKG equipment and any required inventory needed to run tests.
- Perform related administrative tasks including recording results, filing and data entry.
- Attend additional training programs as required by the healthcare
- system, including safety procedures.
- Perform and schedule EKG tests.
Average Salary
The average salary for an EKG technician depends on education, experience and location. EKG technicians can work either part-time or full-time, depending on the demands of the hospital.
Common salary in the U.S.: $23.00-$32.00 per hour

And those certified in more than one specialty are expected to find even greater job opportunities.
Education
To become an EKG technician, you need a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED). Although certification and higher education are not legally required, most employers prefer job candidates to at least be certified and may not hire technicians without it. Certification can be obtained by the NHA (National Healthcareer Association) or NCCT (National Center for competency Testing)
EKG technician work environment
EKG technicians usually work within a hospital environment, but some might also work in a specialty long-term care facility or a private practice. They are typically stationed in a separate room with the EKG equipment but will have interaction with patients, doctors and nursing staff throughout the day.
